Yes, it is possible. For example, awhile back I burned myself with some hot tea. That night I would sporadically dab pure lavender essential oil on the burn. The next day the burn was completely gone! You can also use lavender essential oil for headaches.

I think that any medecine not approved by the FDA would be considered an alternative medecine. Perhaps you could say that anything they can't make money from is an alternative med, IMHO. I personally use lavender oil for burns, comfrey for burns and cuts/scrapes, horehound for cold season, elderberry for flu season. Give me a minute to think and I could list a hundred more. Dandelion for my liver and ginger for nausea. Etc, etc etc.

Yeah , it was considered as alternative medicine as long as you know the uses of it and take it according to indication there...If you are confused, you can ask a doctors advice.

My mom got really sick for using herbal medicine incorrectly. I am not sure what she did wrong but she got really sick so she had to go to the emergency room. after they checked her, they asked her if she had been using any medications and when she told them what she had been taking they told her that was what caused her problems. So I stay away from that stuff. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Herbal medicine is gnerally considered to be alternative medicine in developed countries. But in developing countries they are still used as main source of treatment initially.

Expert guidance is always needed when venturing into alternative or herbal medicine. Many has been relying on this kind of treatment nowadays but we really cannot be sure if its good effects is applicable to everybody.

I disagree. I think that using herbal medicines should be your first step because it is all-natural and will be most beneficial for the body. In many instances, it will cure all kinds of diseases, evern rheumatism.

I just want to mention that many factors determine how effective an herb will be. For example, the type of environment (climate, bugs, soil quality) in which a plant grew will affect it, as will how and when it was harvested and processed.
