Coffee May Help 'Reverse Alzheimer's,' Scientists Say
Drinking five cups of coffee a day could reverse memory problems seen in Alzheimer's disease, US scientists say.
The Florida research, carried out on mice, also suggested caffeine hampered the production of the protein plaques which are the hallmark of the disease.
Previous research has also suggested a protective effect from caffeine.

Yeah, I don't know why people get in such a snit over coffee. Ok, maybe it's not for everyone but there are also a lot of positive health benefits to it. :-)

There are some benefits to the caffeine in coffee and tea, but it usually gets a bad rap. I did have a conversation with a nutritionist (holistic, natural health guru so to speak) who said if anyone can’t give up their coffee for health reasons the best thing to do is to not drink it first thing in the morning. There are Eastern beliefs that our bodies manage internal tasks throughout the day and coffee and food seems to disrupt the morning tasks. So a consideration to changing habits may be all that is necessary to add the benefits of the coffee and downplay the undesired side effects of our cup of java.

There is more news on the coffee front. A Dutch study would like to claim that coffee lowers the risk for type 2 diabetes. However, "the study did not separate regular from decaffeinated coffee and did not ask the participants about other caffeine-containing drinks they may have consumed" so they have a little more work on their hands to find the link between coffee and diabetes prevention.

I have heard this from Dr. Oz on Oprah and Bob on The Biggest Loser. However, coffee is boring to me. It all tastes the same and caffeine does nothing to me. So drinking it every morning doesn't make sense to me. I'd rather put rosemary in my food which also helps Alzheimer's.

I love coffee, but I don't drink five cups a day, usually just two or three. The coffee/Alzheimer's study is really interesting. Alzheimer's is part of my family history (my great-grandfather had it), and I'd love to prevent it if possible.

I saw this on GMA. I used to be a huge coffee drinker but started twitching and blinking uncontrollably. It was awful so I had to quit. I love coffee but can only drink it once in a great while. I do, however, drink 1 cup of tea a day. I wonder if that would help?

Hmmm, this gives my coffee fascination some justification.

I think it's one thing to have A cup of coffee because you like the taste of it and quite another if you're using it as a crutch to make up for a lack of sleep and lifestyle full of stress.
