Exclamation Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a medical condition wherein the patients spine shaped like an "S" or a "C". It can be congenital(present at birth), idiopathic(developed as one grows) or as a secondary symptom of another disease or condition. It can be very painful especially to adults.

Here is an x-ray of a person with Scoliosis:

I myself have a scoliosis. Somewhat, nearly 90 degrees to the right. It does hurt sometimes. Of the three causes, my condition is on the third. It was caused by another condition of mine which I will explain to you later on.

Anyone here also have scoliosis?

My orthopedic doctor doesn't want to bother correcting it whereas my neurologist always insists on correcting it to prevent problems like heart or lungs disorders.

Thats the point. They dont want to fix it because it takes to much of there time. When if you think about it, if it is causing you problems and it is left how it is. Its going to be much worse in the longtime. My Advice would to tell your doctor how painful it is and tell him/her that its hard to do certion things. As that can sometimes get them to change their mind. Could you get your neurologist to arrange it to be fixed or what not ?

Well, I'm pretty used to my condition. It does hurt but not always. Honestly, I got this because of my Centronuclear Myopathy. I always sit on a wheelchair so as time passes by, it does curve little by little. My orthopedic doctor really want to cure it but not my scoliosis but my legs. I will explain these disease on the respective thread.

In most (80 to 85 percent) cases, the cause of scoliosis is unknown - a condition called idiopathic scoliosis. In other cases, scoliosis may develop as a result of degeneration of the spinal disks, as seen with osteoporosis, or as a hereditary condition that tends to run in families.

I am just curious. Is this hereditary? My mother has a scoliosis and I think I am now developing to have such.
