Default Treating a minor burn at home

If you have had a minor burn at home or anywhere else - try to put ice on the area that has been affected - or put it in water if ice is not available. This decreases the burning sensation and stops further deterioration

To add to above, according to my personal experience.
Always keep a skin cream handy.
You can also use a pain killer to ease the pain.
Cold water should be preferred over ice.

What do you do after the initial emergency first aid?
Do you put a bandaid on it, do you apply some medical cream?
What is the next step?
My cousin suggested 'medical cooling powder' or something like that.

Domestic treatments do help in minimizing the effect of burn or injury during an emergency. In burns apply ice or burnol to minimize the burning effect on your skin. This will give you relief and you will feel fine.In minor injuries, try to take first aid and apply some lotion on the wound and also cover it with cotton. These domestic treatments help you very much and the patient can then be taken to hospital if required.

IMO short burns should be treated by three steps:
1.Get the ice
2.dip it in cold water
3.apply creams like soframicin with cotton on it and leave for some time.
Repeat the third process for two days and your burn is gone!

You can make your own antiseptic treatment at home. Create a salve using the essential oils of lavender, plantain and calendula. You can also use comfrey root extract. The combination of these will heal your skin in a natural and gentle way.

A natural alternative for treating burns is to use aloe instead of a medicated cream. The juice from an aloe plant relieves the burning feeling or sting of a minor burn and also helps to keep the skin moist. Ice and a combination of this plant should help to aleve the pain associated with a minor burn and will help it to heal naturally. This plant also works on sunburns as well.

I have always been told from my Grandmother, that you should put butter on a small burn. I think this is really an old wives tell though, when I burn my hand all butter does it make it slimy.

If I get a small burn, I immediately run cool water over the burn. Then I have the "little bear" flexible ice packs that I put on it for 10 minutes. Then I soak a wash cloth with cool water, and wrap it around the area for another 15 minutes. If it is still burning, I spray Solarcane on it.

My mother always had aloe in the house to treat small burns. I remember a particularly painful one that I received on my hand from the toaster oven. The aloe did help to relieve the pain, as did cold water. A blister developed at the site of the burn, but luckily there was no scarring.
