Today in the car, a news story was suppposed to come on about how studies are showing that the children of working moms are more sickly than kids with stay at home moms. Unfortunately, I did not get to hear the story-- I can't believe that it had real evidence to back it up, though. It sounded to me like a sensationalist story.

    

I would have liked to have read that story. I think children of working moms have overweight children. I only believe that because most of my friends who work are too exhausted after work to cook so they end up grabbing fast food. Their kids are all overweight.

I would agree with that Healthy Momma! I am fortunate that I live 2 minutes from where I work so when I get off I go pick up my daughter and go home. As soon as we walk in the door we get on our matching aprons and fix dinner together. I rarely let her eat fast food.
I wonder if they were trying to say that kids with working mothers are sicklier because sometimes children miss their mommies and might play sick to stay home from school to get that one on one time. That would be interesting to see what exactly they said.

Wow, this is bound to be a controversial post. But I can see the truth behind the statement that "working mothers have unhealthier children." After coming home from work, most women do not have the energy to cook a tasty and healthy meal, and some of them usually just rely on fast food. It's unfortunate. I wish that more and more companies would be open to the option of giving women more part-time work opportunities.
