Default Childhood obesity

Childhood obesity is on the rise. Children nowadays seem to be getting bigger and bigger. They no longer go outside to play like in the old days. They stay inside and spend their time in front of the tv or playing video games. Add the unhealthy snacks and we've got obese children. What are some ways to keep children active and healthy?

Here is what I do with my son:

We race each other
We go for family walks
I bought him a skateboard which keeps in outside and away from the video games, TV, and food
I don't allow him to eat seconds if he's going to have dessert. He used to ask for seconds even when he was full and then he'd ask for dessert. Now it's either seconds or dessert.
We turn on the radio and dance to our favorite songs (sometimes for up to an hour)

If your child likes sports, that's one of the best ways to stay active and also learn more about teamwork.

Let your kid walk or bike to school instead of riding in the car.

Get a family YMCA membership and go to exercise 3-4 times a week.

When you have a choice, always walk instead of riding. This one change will burn tons of calories.

Thanks Myfitness Hut! I am always looking for new ways to motivate my son to exercise. He's at that age where he just wants to hang out and do nothing. It used to be easy to get him outside to race but lately I've been struggling. He's still nice and fit and I've known many children who have gained weight at this age (11 1/2 years old) and I don't want my child to be overweight.

We go for a walk every night after dinner. We used to have dessert almost every night after dinner but we have cut that down to one night. Bummer for me because I like to bake!

It's great to know how you cares about your child's health. you choose the right way to keep your kid healthy. Great job!
You can try some light workouts to keep their heart healthy.

Children need to get out and play. Some schools unfortunately do not have free recess time these days. Nutrition plays a very important role in our childrens' health.
Do parents read nutritional facts on food products we buy everyday?

Child Obesity can be due to several reason, its very important to find out the root cause and then treat it. Alternative medicines are mind and very effective on a childs body. I would suggest Ayurveda treatment as it treats the cause of the disease without hapering the immune system of your child. You can get in touch with AyurVAID Hospitals as they are the NABH accredite ayurveda hospital and has history of treating many cases successfully.
