As far as I know, and have seen, it lasts in multiples of 3 days.
Either it will be for one day only, or three, or six, and so on.
A friend of mine proclaimed that he found 'A cure for the common cold'.
His method was to find the nasties mustard available, and eat a tiny amount of it with no accompaniment.
He claims that strong mustard can even make a persons eyes water.

You can catch flu for many days its not certain for sure.If its minor then it can disappear within 3 days but if it lasts more then you must consult the doctor and take prescribed medicine. It can cause many problems and you will have to suffer a lot.For children it is better to take cough syrups and for adults tablets are preferable as medicine.I believe that taking lemon juice in hot water as drink keeps the cold away from you and has worked for me.I hope you would try this stuff.

I usually suffer from Flu for 3 to 5 days. In that time period, I do take some medications that are over the counter drugs like Paracetamol. When the Flu was beyond 5 days, I tend to go to the doctor so I can be prescribed an antibiotic.

A cold can last for a matter of a single day to several days or a week even depending on how much rest you get and your health but usually on average lasts a few days where you really feel the effects. That being said you are can pass it on to someone even before you start feeling the effects. As for the actual flu it is more serious and lasts at least for a week or longer in some cases. What many commonly call the flu is usually not even the flu but a flu like virus. There is little you can do since it is a virus but treat the symptoms and there are some meds that can lessen the effects but there is no cure for either the cold or the flu or a flu like virus. You have to let it just run its course and the best thing you can do is get plenty of rest. Like the cold you will be contagious even prior to feeling the effects yourself. So it is advisable to use good hygen and wash your hands often.

It depends--some of my colds last only a couple of days while others can linger for a week or more. I caught a particularly nasty cold in March that affected me for about 10 days. I had to sit with my head over a humidifier filled with Vicks liquid just so I could breathe.

When I get the flu, it usually lasts for about a week. I am not around people very much so I guess my immune system is pretty weak and not very good at fighting off viruses.
The same goes for a cold. If I get a cough, it'll last for about 2 weeks-1 month and I'll have the sniffles for at least 3 weeks.

When I get sick it can last awhile.I've had two bouts with flu this year, both lasted about two weeks. Then still feeling yukky for a time afterwords.I also am not around too many people,so I think my husband brings home germs from his work at time.My immune system is not all that great it seems.
As for colds,It's hard to tell.I have allergies as well,so alot of times I seem to have colds when actually it's the allergies. That's a year round thing for me.

Mine usually lasts around a week or so.. I tend to catch it from my toddler, however, its rarely the other way round. GUess her immune system is better than mine. I've found steam and a lot of R&R does wonders for sending a cold packing. I hate sniffling and that is the reason I like steam, it clears up congested nasal passages and chest congestion wonderfully.

Typical flu generally lasts at least 3 days for me. I've had bouts with stomach flu's that were 24 hours though.
