Default New study suggests that low-carb diets such as Atkins' may damage arteries

So much for those following the Atkins diet! A new study now suggests that following a low-card diet may actually be bad for you. It can damage your arteries.

Low-carb slimming diets may clog arteries and increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes, a study suggests.
Diets based on eating lots of meat, fish and cheese, while restricting carbohydrates have grown in popularity in recent years.
But the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in the US found such habits caused artery damage in tests on mice.
The researchers and independent experts both agreed a balanced diet was the best option.

A past co-worker of mine was on one of those diets. It drove most of us nuts to see him eat a double-cheeseburger, hold the lettuce, tomato and roll. He talked about having whipped cream as a treat. While he did become trim, it was seemingly not the best approach considering at some point he would add back all the things his body was previously denied and then what? It seems like the battle is harder not to put the weight back on with a program like that.
