What happened to individual health levels?
Can anyone tell me how come it seems that most if not almost all doctors always want to make a person conform to a very generic mold or set of parameters as far as what is considered healthy? Sort of like there is only one bottle mold and all bottles, no matter what shape or size, must fit into that mold. Every person is different, with different matabolisms, different genes, different body densities, etc., yet it seems that the medical profession wants to make everyone conform to only one pattern or mold. Most averages of what is normal are created by a bell curve with as many people on the upside of the bell as there are on the down side of the bell. To me this means that what is considered "normal" would be the top 20 percent of the bell. Many people fall below or above this 20 percent yet they are healthy and do not have any medical issues. Why is the medical profession trying to make all the people not in the top 20 percent get to that level? For example: because most studies say that there is what is called a normal level and doctors want everyone to fall within that level and if you don't then you are considered not healthy and should be on medication to get you there. In todays world it seems that everyone should be the exact same and if you don't fall within the set "normal" pattern you are hot healthy. Whatever happened to the idea that everyone is different and that what is normal and healthy for one doesn't necessarlly mean that its normal and healthy for another. Is it because the medical profession doesn't have the time anymore to treat the person as an individual and find out what is healthy for that person regardless of what the "studies show"? Or is it because the pharmasudical companies have a vested interest in trying to get as many people as possible using their products. I've heard it said that doctors today don't go to school to learn how to treat and prevent illness but to learn what pill to proscribe if a person doesn't fall within a certain set of "normal parameters" from a "study" that was in all probability funded and paid for by one of the so called "health care companies" that have a product they want to sell.
