A healthy fasting doesn't mean to starve for the whole day and live only on water. This is definitely not good for health. If you want to maintain a good health forever as well as detoxify your body , then do juice fasting or fasting on raw vegetable, greens, sprouts, juices etc. It would benefit you a lot but if you want a good and complete detoxification then go for a good health retreat center. Last year, I went Fresh Start ; a health retreat in Vancouver Island, with my friends for the 14 detox program. During our detox session, we were given fresh organic fruit and vegetable juices, Raw organic meals, quality probiotic supplements, Daily steam bath with aromatherapy, Green body care products and lots more. Everything was pre-scheduled and we really enjoyed that. Some of my friend were suffering from some body problems and this program really healed their problems. I would suggest you to go there and once you would come to know how to do it well, you can do it at home.
