Default The benefits of being Alkaline!

What is alkaline? Well, its actually the opposite of acidic. The higher you are on the pH scale, the more alkaline you body is, while once you sink into the negative pH level you are in a dangerous level of acidity.

Having an acidic body is something that we all need to avoid. Excess acidity in the body can lead to a host of issues. Problems like poor immune function, low energy levels and faster muscle fatigue to name a few. Acidity also causes free radical oxidation, which damages health cells in the body. Cancer, arthritis, and cardiovascular disease also thrives in an acidic environment, as well as bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

In order to provide our bodies with an ideal internal environment, we need to avoid factors that increase the acidity of our bodies. Things like soda and energy drinks, processed corn, white flour and refined sugars. Likewise we also need to consume foods that are high in alkalinity. Foods like almonds, green vegetables, citrus fruit(yes, they promote alkalinity), avocados, carrots, and cantaloupe to name a few.

More and more people are turning to drinking alkaline water, which still highly controversial, may or may not be effective. Often water ionizers are extremely expensive and some argue that the alkalinity of the water is negated by gastrointestinal fluids.

Do some research and figure out what foods are right for you. We only have one body so we need to devote ourselves to caring for it! Stay alkaline my friends!

I was looking for some benefits of being Alkaline and found an interesting article on the internet which shows me that In my experience, there is an amazing importance in creating an alkaline body. Most Americans aren’t even aware that they are creating either an acidic or alkaline body...
The body continually strives to balance pH. When this balance is compromised many problems can occur. The pH of the body controls and affects all the functions of the body... This is the pH of the body's fluids and tissues which is entirely different from referring to an “acidic stomach”. Research is starting to show that many common diseases may be caused by having a body that is too acidic. When the body is in a constant state of acidity it creates an environment more prone to disease Unfortunately, our fast-paced lifestyle, and “unconscious” way of eating can create an excessive acid load within our bodies. The typical American diet is made up of a collection of acidic foods and beverages. You can test your own urine or saliva to see what your Ph is by using a PH test strip first thing in the morning, before you have consumed anything. Healthy people will have a PH level of about 7.2 to 7.4
It is said that between 70%-80% of your diet should be alkaline and 30%- 20% acidic. alkaline forming foods in your diet add to the cleansing effect of your digestive system. In addition, having a proper pH balance aids in weight loss.
Most alkaline foods are green vegetables, some fruits, sprouts and seeds. These all have a detoxifying effect when added to your diet. Serious cell degeneration may be controlled and the process of aging be slowed down in an alkaline body.

Acidity Self-awareness:
This list can help you get a better idea of the ph balance of your body. This list is from the book, Alkalize Or Die by Dr. Theodore Baroody. I feel this book is a must read for anyone committed to creating a healthy body. If you experience the following , it may be an indication of being too acidic...
