Default Why does drinking tea makes you go to the bathroom often???

Does anyone know why drinking tea (especially green tea) makes you go to the bathroom quicker than drinking other fluids?
I've always wondered that. What is in the tea that gets you to urinate quickly?

Tea has caffeine in it (unless you by the non caffeinated tea). Caffeine is a diuretic which causes your body to get rid of extra water. The best thing to do is to stick to one cup of tea. If you drink too much you'll end up excreting too much water which can cause you to suffer from dehydration.

I never realized that caffeine was a diuretic. That makes since though. I always thought I had to pee a lot after drinking tea because it is pretty much flavored water. Your explanation is so much better!

Green tea has very little caffeine and yet it makes you go to the bathroom like crazy.
Other drinks that are full of caffeine like coffee and sodas do not make you go to the bathroom as quickly and as much as green tea does.
I don't believe that it is the caffeine that causes this.

Thumbs up Green tea has therapeutic properties

Alpha, I second that... I read somewheer, I don't remember. I guess in the Femina Magazine where I read an article about an interview with Gia-Johnson, one of the top top models. She said that whenever she feels uneasy before the shoot, she just sips in one cup of green tea which makes her pee a lot and flush out all the toxins from her body. I guess it does have a positive effect. Another personal example, one day, I was working in my office and my head was aching a lot. My best friend just suggested me to have green tea. I'm sure it has some therapeutic properties in it.
