Deny, deny, okay fine we'll aprove
Insurance companies are obviously trying to make money. What amazes me is the number of times my daughter's company has denied claims or other requests before ultimately approving them.
When I first tried to sign her up through COBRA after her dad lost his job, they told me I couldn't because he wasn't signing up too. She was denied. I talked to several different people and kept explaining to them that it was the law. 2 different people said to me "I understand it is the law, but it is not company policy".
Of course I appealed and then actually quoted the law and gave them the info on where they could look it up for themselves. She was approved rather quickly after that.
This has happened way more than I ever expected it would... anybody else have similar experiences?
Her insurance is United Healthcare, by the way.
