You can read some of the studies on this at the Organic Trade Association web site.

Do you eat cold water fish every day? If not, you are most certainly deficient in omega-3s, something that can be adequately supplied by a krill-oil or fish-oil supplement. If you do eat that much fish, you are in danger of heavy metal contamination, whereas omega-3 supplements have the heavy metals refined out of them. You can read more about omega-3 supplements at WellWise.

I LOVE this post - and it is SOOO true! Look at how things are being produced today, look at how much pesticides, herbicides and the like are put on our foods and in our soil! As a result, the soil that our "food" is grown in has become nutritionally bankrupt and we are NOT getting the nutrients we NEED from our food supply. Anyone who seriously thinks we are, please do more research - it's not happening

As an example, we used to get all of our Vitamin A from a potato, apparently now. we don't get any! We used to get all our iron from one cup of spinach - now we need anywhere from 25-63 cups (or something ridiculous like that!) - anyone hungry? LOL

We NEED to supplement our diets - there is no two ways about it - but we also need to make sure we are using products that are digestible, absorbable, don't contain fillers and safe. Many manufacturers out there add all kinds of fillers and such to "cut the costs" of producing the vitamins - yet they are not serving the public well - very poor business practices if you ask me.

Personally, I use the Isagenix vitamins and I'll tell you why (it's not only because I am a Consultant!). Our Master Formulator is John Anderson - he has been formulating for over 30+ years for private label companies and manufacturers. He is well known as the Master Formulator (and "The Mineral Man"). He formulated for over 600 companies and over 2300 products. Sadly enough, he didn't have the final say in finished product as they weren't his - they were for other companies. Many of them didn't want to put the "extra $$) in to, so they added fillers. John Anderson retired and when he had a health issue or two to look after, he KNEW there was nothing good enough on the market - hence, the founding of Isagenix. He has saved the best for last and it continues to get better and better and NO-COMPROMISE products!

I use the following from Isagenix:
  • Ladies Essential Vitamin
  • IsaOmega Supreme (25X more potent - 3rd party tested)
  • Ageless Actives (Resveratrol, D3, CoQ10)
  • Antioxidants
  • C-Lyte (3 different types of vitamin C)

And that's in addition to how I supplement some of my meals! The beauty of Isagenix is it is ALL NATURAL and ORGANIC and I totally trust the founders and formulator.

What I'm saying is this........please open your eyes to the fact that we DO need to supplement, please do the research! I'm not asking you to believe a word I say or to convince you that you should get Isagenix products from me.....I'm not in the convincing business! LOL

My goal is to provide education and perhaps be able to help someone make wiser choices on what they decide to ingest Look at all the money that goes into fundraising and research - are they any closer to solving things like obesity, cancer, body inflammation, digestive issues, arthritis, and the list goes on? No...they aren't..as a matter of fact, health challenges are on the rise, why is that?

Anyway, I've babbled enough - hope I gave someone food for thought

Have an awesome day!

In Health,
Koula

Default The quality of supplements

You're right about the quality of supplements. I've been in the natural products industry for years, and I'm always amazed at the contrasts in this business -- some very high idealism and passion, and some very greedy bad actors who will turn out anything and call it something. Latest example I've found: krill oil.

This is an amazing supplement that delivers omega-3s bound to phospholipids, which make them far more bioavailable, and full of astaxanthin, a super antioxidant. It's more expensive that fish oil ... harder to catch and process ... so you have a company turning out a product they call KriaXanthin as krill oil, which is nearly completely lacking in the very thing that makes krill oil worth buying at the higher price: phospholipids.

It's one of the reasons I've set up WellWise, to try to give people some authentic science-based information on supplements so they can make informed decisions about what to take and what to buy.
