Treatment begins with changes you can make to your lifestyle to help lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease (see the box below). If these changes don't work, you may also need to take medicine.
Even if you must take medicine, making some changes in your lifestyle can help reduce the amount of medicine you must take.

The primary cause of high blood pressure/hypertension is salt. It is advised that one should only take up one teaspoon of salt everyday to prevent from getting hypertension.
And it is best to go to a doctor to help you in prescribing the right maintenance medicine to maintain your blood pressure in the normal level.

I wanted to chime in here and say that at 19 I got put on blood pressure medicine. I thought that I was in good shape and active, I was in the military. However, after many years of being treated by high blood pressure I decided it was time to see what I could do to get off of it. I started a very intense work out program, and watched everything I ate. I cut my meat consumption down to twice a week, and replaced dairy with soy. I have been off of meds for 2 years now.
I am a firm believer that you can change your lifestyle to keep your blood pressure in check. However, there are some instances when you can’t control it and need to be on medication.

1. Lose weight if you're overweight.
2. Reduce sodium intake. try to keep it under 2,200 milligrams a day.
3Reduce your alcohol intake. try not to exceed a drink a day. Also, stop smoking.
4, Exercise more frequently.
5. Eat a diet low in fat, saturated ,fat sodium, and colesterol. And increase your intake of legumes.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect way to beat blood pressure. I have heard about some remedies (not tried yet):
1) lots of water can be given to drink (with a dash of lime)
2) any drink with 1/3rd normal sugar or zero sugar will do!
3) Asking the person to go out for a walking!
4) Always carry a preventive medication handy right from the moment of meeting the medico after the first symptom.
5) Go for a SALT LIMITATION DIET with immediate effect..

To sum it up...it's all about lifestyle! Provide the body with the necessary environment including daily exercise, organic whole foods, proper mental, emotional and social stimulation that your body requires in order to function the way it was designed and your central nervous system will see no need to raise your blood pressure.
