We are in the same boat. DD is 40" and 35lbs at 23 months. We have had pressure to reduce fat (which is bad, in my opinion, because growing children need fat, particularly for brain development).
I am ignoring the doctor.

My sister-in-laws are 6' and 5'11 and I'm 5'10. My husband is 6'. So I expect Dd will be shooting up like a weed.
I know DD has an insanely healthy diet. Whole foods. Organic. Very little juice. Low glycemic--we don't eat bread or cereal at all. SO I think this is just how DD's body grows.
We did recently eliminate her night time bottle, mostly because I was tired of dealing with bottles. DD didn't notice or seem to care so perhaps she didn't need those calories.
She's also getting pickier, just now, about what she eats which is new. Now she may eat next to nothing all day so I expect she'll even out.
DD is too young to be an overeater and medical science is far from complete when it comes to preventing obesity let alone treating it. So long as the food quality is high and there are opportunities to exercise, I wouldn't worry about it.
If DD is still a chunk as she gets older, I will push more exercise into our schedules before I will limit her food.
