Default Burmingham hip resurfacing

4 years ago I had both my hips replaced with a hip resurfacing prosthesis. It worked beautifully - I was standing the next day and recovered quickly. Recently I read that Johnson and Johnson are recalling some of their hip resurfacing prosthesises and stopping research and development in this area. The article I read said that soft tissue in the joint area could be damaged by the metal ions that leech from the artificial joint (which is metal on metal), and the person might not even feel it.

I'm feeling great but I wonder about this, and wonder if anyone has experienced soft tissue damage bad enough that they had to have their artificial joint removed.
