Knee pain is an extremely common complaint, and there are many causes. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the cause. If you have knee pain, some common causes include:
• Arthritis
Arthritis is among the most common causes of knee pain, and there are many treatments available.
• Ligament Injuries
Ligament injuries commonly occur during athletic activities and can cause discomfort and instability.
• Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury
• Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) Injury
• Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL) Injury
• Cartilage Injuries | Meniscal Tear
Cartilage tears are seen in young and old patients alike, and are also an extremely common cause of knee pain.
• Patellar Tendonitis
Tendonitis around the joint is most commonly of the patellar tendon, the large tendon over the front of the knee.
• Chondromalacia Patella
Chondromalacia causes knee pain under the kneecap and is due to softening of the cartilage. It is most common in younger patients (15-35 years old).
• Dislocating Kneecap
A dislocating kneecap causes acute symptoms during the dislocation, but can also lead to chronic knee pain.
• Baker's Cyst
A Baker's cyst is swelling in the back of the joint, and is usually a sign of another underlying problem such as a meniscus tear.
• Bursitis
The most common bursa affected around the joint is just above the kneecap. This is most common in people who kneel for work, such as gardeners or carpetlayers.
• Plica Syndrome
Plica syndrome is an uncommon cause of knee pain, and can be difficult to diagnose. The diagnosis is usually made at the time of arthroscopy.
• Osgood-Schlatter Disease
Osgood-Schlatter disease is a condition seen in adolescents and is due to irritation of the growth plate just at the front of the joint.
• Osteochondritis Dissecans
Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) is another condition seen in adolescents due to the growth of the bone around the joint.
• Gout
Gout is an uncommon cause of knee pain. However, in patients who have a diagnosis of gout, it must be considered as a cause for new onset knee pain.

I was told that the affect would last six months to two years. Because it is not a steroid the procedure can be repeated many times.
I am very happy as I can now walk down stairs without pain. They say that HA is the WD-40 of the body. Getting that extra lubrication in my knee joint must clear up the irritation and thus the pain

That's great that the pain has reduced and you are more mobile...however, I suggest you try and figure out what caused the problem in the first place. Otherwise the problem will just return and most likely be worse. HA is only a temporary patch, unfortunately if you don't correct the underlying cause the problem will just return.

I think knee pain has also something to do with aging. As we grow older, we tend to develop pains in some parts of our body especially at the joints area. My boss used to be a fast tennis player during his younger years, but now that he is in his 70s,he is now complaining of severe knee pain every after playing tennis.

First you should go the orthopedic doctor. He/She give advice how to relive knee pain.Green tea is rich in antioxidants that have bone boosting properties. Therefore it may be used as a pain relieving means. You should take rest and wear knee brace.

An update on my knee pain. The HA shots have done wonders. I still know that I have a mechanical problem with my knee and that the pain will return. I had some cartalage removed 45 years ago an there is not much left. I am a good candidate for a replacement but I want to put it off as long as possible. The HA shots should last for 6 months to two years.
The lack of pain allows me to ride my bike, and walk for up to 3 miles. My daughter is a professor of physical therapy and has given me a great set of exercises that also help. I avoid taking pain pills except for a low dose aspirin for other reasons. I also take an oral form of HA. I don't think it helps very much for my knee but I don't get that really creaky feeling when I get up from sitting for a long time. When you get to be 70 you will know what I am talking about.

I started to use Joint Support Advanced tablets from Herbalife, didn't expect such a great result for so short period of time (about month and half). Tablets contain Glucozamine, Cooper and Manganese which help to maintain your cartilage.
