It is very common if you are an athlete. However, it depends on where your hip is actually snapping. If it is on the side, it is probably your Iliotibial Band. This tendon runs down the outside of your leg to right below your knee. If it feels like it is towards the groin, it is your Iliopsoas tendon. That can be a little more difficult, but easy to fix with arthroscopic surgery. If you have access to getting to New York City, I highly recommend the Hospital for Special Surgery.
