Default HDL and Obesity ...

My doc informed me that my HDL is low, which means that I am not exercising that much, does obesity get measured using HDL levels? Or is it something that has to do with bad cholesterol only?

Obesity may have an impact on HDL; however HDL may not be a direct cause to obesity. Obesity is likely to contribute to the HDL particle sizes. Some individuals in an appropriate weight range though that do have cholesterol issues may not be fat at all. Smoking for instance causes an unhealthy level of HDL but doesn’t cause the drop in HDL to cause obesity.
