Symptoms

Depending on where the spinal cord and nerve roots are damaged, the symptoms can vary widely, from pain to paralysis to incontinence. Some common symptoms are given bellow:

• Back pain
• Weakness
• Loss of sensation (such as the ability to feel a light touch, pain, temperature, or vibration)
• Changes in reflexes
• Loss of bladder control (urinary incontinence)
• Loss of bowel control (fecal incontinence)
• Erectile dysfunction
• Paralysis
