Default Stress and Sleep

I am start to wonder if there is a direct link with stress and sleep. I have noticed that the I sleep more and take more naps when I am under more stress, such as during midterms and finals. Has anyone else had this experience? Is there a direct link between stress and it causing you to sleep more?

Hi,

One great way to purge your body of stress so your mind can relax is to learn progressive muscle relaxation and deep muscle relaxation techniques. Meditation is also a valuable tool to relax your body and quiet your mind it can easily transition you into sleep.

Hope this piece of advice help your stress and sleep problem. GoodLuck!

The same happens to me especially when spend a lot of time studying. I get stressed really easily (mostly because I always make a big deal out of little things...bad habit of mine).
I, too, have heard that progressive muscle relaxation technique helps with stress.
I requested a book from the library that teaches you these techniques but I haven't gotten the call that it's in. If I get it (I have a feeling it's lost since I've been waiting for almost 2 months), I'll let you know if it helped me.

We cannot link stress and sleep but the person suffering from stress should have proper sleep. Not getting proper sleep can lead to stress. So proper sleep is the best option to lower the stress.

It very rare that you sleep more when you are under stress. Most people that I have met (Including me) said that they can't sleep well when they are under stress.

Default Napping can help too

I just finished doing some research on the benefits of napping. Whereas you don't want to nap for too long (because it affects sleeping at night), a quick power nap of about 15-60 minutes can significantly help people who have sleep deprivation.
