Default What are the treatment for stroke?

Is it advisable to admit patients who have stroke in the hospital? How can we treat stroke in order patients can survive? What kind of treatment do they need to recover?

Its important to give first aid to the patient.
Position him in comfortable position usually in semi-sitting position.
Do not pour anything in mouth, moist the lips if necessary.
Keep them warm and calm.
If breathing stops give mouth to mouth artificial respiration.
Call the doctor immediately.

When I had my stroke I waited to long to go to the hospital. The emergency room doctor said you need to be there within 24 hours.

Mine was a stressed induced stroke. They said it was a 'mini' stroke but it left me paralized on my right side for along time.To this day I still have numbness through out my body.

They told me the damage could be permanent.Thank God it was not.

My advice is get the person to the hospital asap.

The Mechanical Embolus Retrieval in Cerebral Ischemia, or MERCI retriever, is a recently developed approach to remove or break up blood clots that have wandered into a small blood vessel causing it to become occluded. This is done by carefully passing a special device from a blood vessel in the leg all the way into the blood vessel in the brain where the blood clot is trapped. The retriever captures the clot and pulls it out of the body, thus returning blood flow to the affected area.

I have been living thru this for several years. My mother has had 4 strokes. I can not thank you enough for being honest and open. Your words will help many people. Many people have this issue. I learned several things from reading this. Thank you for sharing your feelings and experiences. I helps to know others are going thru this.
