Post Smoking!!!!

Hello friends,
Few of my college classmates often smoke. They take nearly 2 cigarettes during a day.
How many of you believe that smoking is harmful to you and what are your suggestions to get out of the clutches of the addiction like smoking.I want to talk with my friends regarding this matter and want them to stop smoking.
Smoking is very prominent among teens nowadays and they are not aware about its affects.
Thank You.

Most of my friends smoke as well. In fact I do too.
We are all well aware that it has harmful effects, but that is hardly reason enough to quit.
We enjoy it, so we do it.
None of us are addicted, we only smoke out of choice.

Its fine that you enjoy smoking but its adverse effects affect the human body a lot and can also cause you lung cancer in the later stage of your life.So i would suggest you and your friends to stop smoking to save your and your family's life. Its a good cause if you leave it as it is not the only way to enjoy life.

I appreciate your concern, Vandy, but if it is being done in controlled amounts, isn't that still acceptable?
I am not saying that it is OKAY to smoke, or that smoking is COOL.
I am simply asking that if a person knows that something they do is wrong, but then they limit the frequency of that activity, isn't that... Ummm.. (want a better word)... Good?

Hmm I believe if you know the danger it can cause and you know the limits then its fine. You should be concerned about the matter and should allow the matter to run out of your hands and turn into a big mistake.Take care mate.Have a nice and enjoyable life.

You know, I never have smoked in my life but I do remember as a teen that others would do it because they said it made them cool. I know that sounds like a cliché, but it’s reality and peer pressure does turn a lot of teens into smokers. I hope I can teach my son to avoid that path! I can’t stand smoking!

I started smoking when I was 10 and been smoking since (I am 25 now, still pretty young!) and quit just yesterday...

The reason why I quit is because I am now using an inhaler and being treated for COPD! The best way for me to describe what I feel is when I am active like walking fast and doing activities outside that require a little bit of work... I lose my breath and can hardly breath to the point where I feel a jabbing pain in my chest... I have a lot of mucus buildup in my throat and can hardly talk and I spit up tar mixed with blood every day...

COPD has no cure, I will have it forever! Me quitting smoking will help me live with it but I will not be as strong and active as regular young 20s year olds who dont smoke...

If that isn't enough to make you want to quit, then you must want to die!

WOW I'm SO proud of you!!! I know of pregnant women who won't even give up smoking and it endangers their children's lives. Or parents who smoke in front of their kids. So, for some, nothing will work.

I'm not glad you have COPD, but I am glad it make you quit. Big congrats your way!

BTW: 10 years old?

I smoked occasionally in my teens but never developed a lasting habit. My younger brother smokes and my father does also. I know that quitting is difficult for people who have smoked for years, and I admire anyone who is successful.

Notr only does smoking turn you lungs into big black crispy things that cause you to have trouble breathing (you will also start to spit up thick mucus), it ages you. You'll start to get wrinkles by the time you are in your mid-twenties. Smoking also turns your teeth yellow which isn't attractive at all. To make it worse, you could end up getting cancer.
It's just not worth it to me. How can hurting your body be considered fun?
