I've always been against drugs. My dad died of an overdose and I grew up watching that stuff destroy him. Eventually my sister and brother became addicted. I experimented when I was younger but never became addicted. It was mostly due to peer pressure but I could never understand why people did that stuff. It made me sick and I hated watching my dad kill himself.
I have always been honest with my son and told him how my dad died. I want him to know what that stuff does to you. Unfortunately, my niece and nephews are addicted and it just breaks my heart watching them go down the drain. How do I help them? How do I get them to give the junk up????? I don't know what do to or how to help them.
Wow, I am really sorry about this. Drugs are a bad thing. I know that peer pressure is the number one reason that kids get into drugs. If you think your child's peers are pressuring him into trying drugs, what do you think about finding ways to get him away from his peers. Is there somewhere he could go?
Let your children become aware of the dangers of drugs. Go on the net and show your children what can happen to addicts.
The most important is teach your children to be confident about themselves. Children who are confident will generally not experiment with something that they inherently know to be bad.
Keep them away by educating them about the dangers of drug abuse, and by making them feel loved at all times. Do things together, don't allow them to be idle, and always make them feel that they can talk to you.
