Default Sugar Substitutes and Weight Loss

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to lose weight and cutting out sugar has been tough, especially, since I love my cuppa tea with sugar. Am considering switiching to a sugar sub, such as Splenda, but my husband is going on and on about how it has side effects, etc. He hasn't shown (I want proof) me any articles on it and I thought before I google and wade through seas of information, I'll ask here. Does anyone have personal experiences with sugar substitutes and do they cause any harm??
TIA

Default Sugar substitutes

Sugar substitutes might not solve your problem of craving sugar because your taste buds still will taste something sweet with the substitute. It is better to drink unsweetened tea and satisfy your sugar craving with natural foods like fruit. Try squeezing something like oranges in your tea for natural, healthy sweet flavoring.

I just posted about how a certain sugar substitute gives me headaches-aspartame to be exact. We recently stopped buying regular soda in the house but had diet soda around if we really craved it. Needless to say, I craved it and was drinking it. Boy did I pay for it. As soon as I stopped drinking the diet soda though-the headaches went away.

According to some people, when we use any sweetener including artificial ones, our body gets prepared to make insulin in the whole weight gain cycle starts. I know if I drink diet pop in the morning, I have a sweet tooth all day long. But if I avoid it in the morning, I can go a long time without thinking about sugary stuff.
