Mikhon.....Focus on burning fat through regular weight training (including bodyweight exercises), cardio and a balanced diet. This combination will work to change your body composition (more lean mass, less fat mass) over time and the weight loss will take care of itself because your metabolism will speed up. You will be more healthy and the weight will stay off! Quick weight loss often leads to more weight gain (yo-yo effect).

Think long-term fat loss and weight loss! There are no quick fixes or fad diets that will give you long-term fat loss and weight loss.

In Hollywood, they cut the carbs to trim down but that is hard to maintain long term and requires a whole different set of cooking/eating skills/knowledge.

Have you tried Weight Watchers? For people with normal metabolism, WW is probably the best program out there, but it is not a quick fix.

I am also a fan of replacement dieting. I analyze current habits and target on thing to change. Usually I try to swap out higher calorie items for something low calorie. You know, instead of fried cheese sticks, have an apple with some laughing cow cheese. That kind of stuff.

Also, I think a lot of exercise and diet 'facts' are pretty flawed and would actually disagree with Mark's suggestions--exercise tones, but is of limited utility for most people when it comes to weight loss. A balanced diet still has too much sugar and low nutrition carbs to be effective.

My suggestion would be to cut empty calories and carbs completely and go for whole foods; eat slightly more protein and eat more veggies than fruits. No pasta. No bread. No candy. No cookies. No pop. No ice cream. Nada. Combine that with 2-3 intense toning workouts each week to help your body look leaner and give it time.

You also have to be consistent. Falling off the wagon can really set you back.

I suggest anyone serious about weight control read Good Calories, Bad Calories by Gary Taube (I know I've mentioned it before and I swear I'm not paid to pimp his book, I just think it is really helpful and provides a ton of context about the science of heart disease, diabetes, weight loss and exercise).

ETA: OH! I forgot, there has been some good research about green tea getting rid of belly fat. You need between 5 to 8 cups a day to see results. I did do this and found it effective, but I had a hard time sustaining the 5 to 8 cups of tea a day.

Wow, mikhon, you have gotten some really good suggestions. I would advise you to stick to what @myfitnesshut and @violet say abt focusing on long-term weight loss, cutting fat and carbs, including some form of exercise and if you can, join WW! There, you have it, the best of both the worlds:-)
From personal experience, I've found that cutting all carbs really jumpstarts weightloss and helps to form healthier food choices in the long run. Once your body stops craving carbs, things get really easy! Best wishes!!

I think I have been on every diet that has ever been created in the past several years...

I am serious...Atkins, South Beach, Low Carb, High Carb, Ceral Diet, Cabbage Diet, Fasting. Cleansing, Pills...you name it, I have tried it. I tried them all in the hopes of quick weight loss. Did I lose weight on some of them? Oh yeah. Some I have even lost my hair, my nails got disgusting, and some pills made my heart race. Some days I was miserable because I deprived myself of sugar, carbs, and everything else I wasn't allowed to eat or drink on that given diet.

Recently I came to the conclusion that enough is enough. I am watching what I eat and getting my rear moving. No more dieting. Will it be a slow way to lose weight? Probably. But I am sure I will be healthier, happier and lighter later on. That's OK with me.

Really, I think all diets can work in the short-term and give you quick weight loss--if you stick to them. For long term weight loss though, I don't know. I only say that because I have never lost weight quickly and kept it off long-term. Maybe someone else can chime in who has, but I don't know anyone who has.

Default Weightloss

Hi Mikhon

I am a personal wellness coach with Herbalife and what I tell my clients is that if they want to loose weight is to try the Herbalife core nutrition program. Which helps build lean muscle and gives you more energy and good nutrition. If you are interested let me know and I can send you more information. See the online presentation at at designerlife.tv (username: designerlife & password: success) Email me if you are keen: *jdshepp@gmail.com*

With the program you get me as your free personal wellness coach. If the nutrition program is good for Inter Milan, Valencia and LA Galaxy (David Beckhams team) then it will be good for you.

Take care

James

I would recommend losing weight the right way. Quick weight loss diets are not only unhealthy but they don't work. All they do is burn muscle mass so in the end you'll be a skinny fat person. Then once you get off the diet, you'll gain the weight back.
The best advice I can offer is to work out 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes, and eat nutritious meals. It will be worth it in the long run! I have tried the weight loss diets in the past and they did not work. I finally decided to do it the right way and I have managed to keep the weight off for over 13 years! I wear a size 1-2 and I eat 3 meals a day and exercise regularly. I do not have to starve myself or count calories (I've tried that but it's too much work and so not worth it) or count carbs!
