Default Do you have any pros or cons of low carb diets?

Has anyone here tried a low carb diet like Atkins, or Carbohydrate Addicts? What did you try that works the best? Do you have any Pros or cons?
I have lost weight doing Atkins in the past, but right now I’m not following specific diet and am considering starting low carb again.

Low carb worked for me but I was miserable and eventually gave in and gained all the weight back. That was me on Atkins. I felt a lot better on the South Beach diet but plateaued big-time after losing 30lbs. I now am just trying to do what everyone told me to do all along: eat right and get moving. I am losing slowly but I don't deprive myself either.

I am sure if I was strict with my calories and really watched what I ate-I probably would be losing a lot more. I am working on that.

Eat a healthy meal plan, lift weights and do cardio consistently. Your body needs carbs for energy. Your body also needs protein and healthy fats. You can't maintain a low carb diet for very long without giving in. So, you will regain the weight. Think health first!

Pros:
  • Reduces water weight.
  • Does help burn body fat if your fat intake is low as well.

Cons:
  • Decreases energy.
  • Hard to sustain, because carbs are EVERYWHERE.
