Migraine problem
Hi, this is Daisy, a migraineur. I was just recently diagnosed of migraine and it's triggered by my pms. Just before I get my monthly period, I get the throbbing headaches and aura. I was given regular paracetamol so I hope this will take care of the problem. I can barely get some tasks done during an attack. Anything else that you can recommend to deal with this? Thanks.

Cantbelieveit, I can really relate to your situation as my migraines can be quite painful! Excedrin used to help until I got used to it and it no longer does. Now I just drink a lot of water then lie down in a cool room with a cold washcloth. You can add lavender and peppermint oil to the cloth as well.

9 times out of 10 this works for me too, but I would be careful adding fragrances unless you are sure you're not allergic or sensitive to them. I was using a lavender compress until I realized I was allergic to lavender. Now I use a combo of peppermint, tea tree oil and rosemary and get better a lot faster.

I had a similar issue, or thought I did. I and the doctor thought that it was due to my menstral cycle and it came either just prior or just after. However, after about 7 yrs of marriage and 10 years on the pill me and my spouse decided to start a family and I stopped taking the pill. During the this time I did not have a single migraine after stopping taking it. I have been off of birth control now for about 5 years and have only had 2 similar headaches since then. So if you are on birth control you might want to think about it and see if it is having similar affects on you. Now that our family is complete we are considering other alternatives for birth control.
As for ways to releive. I took alot of shows. Standing in the shower with the water running over my head helped me. As did accupressure methods that we found in a book.

I get migraines periodically and they are extremely painful. Fortunately, Excedrin works well for me--I take 2 or 3 pills and then rest in a dark room for about half an hour. Placing a hot washcloth on my forehead helps sometimes as well.

I tend to get migraines right before my cycle as well. I try to track my cycle the best I can and start taking extra strength Tylenol first thing when I get up, and anytime that I feel a headache coming on. If that doesn’t help then I take my migraine medicine as soon as possible.
Once the migraine hit, I put a cool cloth of my forehead and lay in a quiet dark place. I attempt to do breathing exercises and it really helps.

I suffered from migraines for years. It got so bad that I'd get migraine attacks 3 times a week. Sunlight was painful and noise of any kind made me nauseous. There were many times when I had to spend the night sitting next to the toilet because the migraines made me sick.
I tried medication but I wasn't too happy about the side effects. Who wants to deal with more problems? Not me so I looked around for some natural remedies. The only thing I could find that helped ease the pain was Ice Therapy. Have you tried that? All you have to do is get yourself an ice pack, lie down and place it on your forehead. I've heard of people who place it behind their neck but it worked best if I placed it where pain was (around my forehead and near my temples). The ice helped reduce inflammation and ease the pain.
Give Ice Therapy a try and let me know if it worked for you.
Have you figured out what causes your migraines? The reason I am asking is because it could be something as simple as your diet. Keep a food journal for a few weeks (try to aim for a month). Be sure to write down the days and time you got the migraine (right after breakfast, or after that midnight snack). At the end of the month, go over your food journal and see if you're getting migraines around the same time you ate a certain food.
I found out a few years ago that I was clenching and grinding my teeth. After I started using a mouth guard, migraines completely vanished.

some precautions to be taken in migrain
I think that first we have to remove the causes of increasing migrain. For example, avoid direct sunlight,T.V screen, insomnia, excess tention .Along with some precautions,we should do Yoga and meditation regularly in the Morning.

I also get PMS migraines and it is because I have PCOS, which means my hormones are totally out of whack. I could never find a remedy for them, and two days of every month were a total write off. I talked to an alternative practitioner, and she told me to use a dab of hormone cream on my temples as soon as I notice the aura. Now I am only out of commision for a half hour at the most. I can't believe what a miracle it is.

Where do you get this hormone cream? What is it called? Is an over the counter cream or prescription? Do you know if it works for regular headaches? I usually get minor ones the week before auntie flo comes for a visit. Sorry for all the questions but this is interesting. Call me a dummy, but I've been heard of hormone creams.
