Default Recommended age to begin having mammograms?

I am 33, and my doctor has not yet recommended that I have a mammogram. How old should one be when beginning to have this procedure done on a yearly basis? I have heard both 35 and 40, and was just curious as to which is correct.

I've heard that if you're not at risk of developing breast cancer, you could start to get yearly screenings at the age of 50.
If you're at risk, then you should start getting them at age 40.
I am 32 right now so I plan on getting mine when I turn 40. If everything is okay, then I'll start getting regular screenings when I turn 50.

At my last check up I asked about it, and my doctor told me as long as no lumps were found during the breast exam then expect to start mammograms around 40. I am sure that each doctor probably has there own preference on when you should have them.
