Default How do get rid of Varicose veins?

I've got big ugly purple varicose veins on my legs. This may be a silly question but is there a natural way to get rid of the veins or is there a way to reduce the appearance of them? It's gotten to the point where I am embarrassed to even wear shorts. I am too scared to get them taken out...do they get cut out or what? Are there any creams to help reduce the appearance of the veins?

I only have spider veins right now on my legs but they bother the heck out of me. I have been reading that horse chestnut works wonders. You could take it internally or they have lotions out that contain it for topical use. I myself haven't tried it yet-but it sounds promising.

I've never heard of horse chestnut but I'm going to give it a try. I don't like to ingest anything I know nothing about so I'll give the lotion a try. I really need to get my problem fixed. My mother in law had hers taken out because they were causing problems. I don't want mine to get that bad. Thanks so much for the info!

Hello Friends......

Yoga Therapist

Yoga is an effective protocol for preventing and treating varicose veins. The posture that is known to be clinically most effective in both cases is sarvangasana, the shoulder stand (shown), where the legs are inverted and the pressure of gravity is reversed. In this pose, the blood and the lymph drain from the lower extremities back to the heart, thereby reducing the pressure of the pooled blood in the veins. Do this pose once daily. with a recommended holding time of about three to five minutes. When you stand up, movement of these fluids in the legs is greatly improved.

Thanks

Hi ,
The best way to get rid of it is Vein Stripping. Most vein "stripping" now is done with 2 small incisions, one near the calf muscle and one in the groin area and the vein can be easily removed, by pulling the vein out from either incision.
The large saphenous vein is almost never removed since it can be later used for heart bypass surgery.

If the veins are gnarled or twisted, often incisions are made every 2-3 inches and the vein is pulled out in small pieces. The incisions are then other stitched or stapled closed. If staples are used the are usually removed one week later.
