Using calcium to lose weight
There were studies last year that said calcium can help you lose weight. Did anyone start taking calcium for weight loss and did it work for you? I know if I drink milk with dinner I don't seem to eat as much.

I have seen the commercials on tv about how drinking low fat milk can help you lose weight. I am not so sure that I am sold on it. Also, I am not a cow milk drinker. I will stick to my soy milk in order to avoid the chemical and hormones they pump into cows.
I did find this link though if you want to check it out, it discusses the benefits of calcium for weight loss.

firelady, have you thought of trying organic milk. Organic milk tastes really good, has none of that bad stuff, and is loaded with nutrients.

I can imagine that an increase in calcium would only make you gain weight--especially if you drink whole milk. In fact, I only drink soy milk and I've noticed an increase in my weight and had to start drinking light soy milk. Thick substances like milk sticks to you, and I can't imagine that it would help you loose weight.

Actually I have done this with an endocrinologist. They had me taking 500-600 mg per meal. I have actually read some of the studies on this on Medscape--if you have time poke around there (it's free).
However, prior to working with a doctor, I ate tons of calcium rich foods and was not skinny so...I don't know! I'm sure my 60lbs weight loss had more to do with the ultra low carb diet I was on than anything else.
I will say, of all the supplements I took, I thought L-carnitine helped the most with weight loss, but that might just be for LC diets.
There were some other interesting studies out this year about green tea and blueberries helping people get rid of belly fat. I did try green tea and it did appear to work--supposedly you lost 50% more belly fat with green tea. The only catch is, drinking 8 cups of green tea a day--blech.

I didn't heard, calcium has the quality to loose weight. I have some experience with natural weight loss pills like Stratzol. If calcium has this quality then it may be in small quantity.

Yoga Teacher Training San Francisco
Enjoyed Purusha Yoga for many reasons. The small community feel, the flexibility, the openness to input from one another, the broadness of in-depth knowledge from Joy, she really has a good knowledge of anatomy, philosophy, chanting, asana and the list goes on!

I would like to emphasize that this post started with the question "Does calcium help to lose weight?" NOT "Does milk help you lose weight?"
Aside from supplements there are tons of other ways to get calcium in your diet besides milk. There are many vegtables such as; bok choy, spinach, and collard greens. You can also get calcium from nuts such as; almonds, walnuts, and chesnuts. There are fish, beans, and so many other sources of calcium so don't just limit yourself to what you know.
